Fyi, GWU offers a 50% tuition discount for enrolled siblings. The former president used to joke "Buy one, get one half off. Buy 2, get one free"

Not much you can do about it now that they are 17/18 years old unless you plan on being controlling like a pp in this thread.

This is something that should have been developed when they were younger, being individuals vs " the twins"

All you can do now is be encouraging. Encourage them to each follow their goals and dreams even if it means doing something different from her sister..

I'm a fraternal twin. We went to college on separate sides of the country.
My college GF was an identical twin. She and her sister went to UVA and Va. Tech, respectively.

Yes, I am a twin. I understand the twin thing, but the nature of my girls' relationship with each other is just very different than the nature of my sister and I's relationship so it's something I sort of struggle with.

I agree that identical twins are different, and would follow their lead. My DH is an identical twin, and he and his twin went to college together. In college they had (and still have today) a great and very large group of friends, so it didn't stunt them socially. Their interests started to diverge toward the end of college. After graduation they moved to different cities and have very different careers now, but remain great friends.

My cousins are id twins and are UVA freshmen. They do not live in the same residence hall.

I have two sets of twins. Both sets went to college together, each set went to a different school.

I did not allow them to be on the same floor for their dorms.

I have boy/girl twins, one at UVA and one at Georgetown.

I have fraternal boys who are 11 they are already planning on going to different colleges. While they get along great, they are very different and have different interests.

I am a twin, and my sister and I went to school on opposite ends of the country. It wasn't a big deal at all...but then again, while we were close, we both had very different interests in high school, different friend groups, and were (and still are) just very different people overall.

Now, my twins (identical) are deliberating the whole college thing. They refuse to go more than an hour apart, if that (they've long wanted to go to the same school). They do everything together- played the same sport in HS, have the same friends/friend group, same major, and are looking for similar things in college. I guess I'm just nervous that they'll go to the same school and not reach out to others. They have a great group of friends now in HS, but to be quite honest, they probably would have been as content just having each other's company. Of course, if they do end up going to the same school, it's not like I can police that by any means, but it does make me a little nervous.
