My children thank their godparents ever year. Sometime they draw a picture or make a bracelet but it is alway something from the heart. We are very luck with the choice we made and my children want to do something BUT it is not something that needs to be done.

Baptism "anniversary" gifts are not a thing. Indeed, baptism "anniversaries" are not a thing. You do not need to do anything.

We are grandparents & also looking for ideas for christening anniversary gift. Don't want to give something that will interfer with "official" occasion gifts , for example 1st communion.
Godparents, in my opinion, should be chosen to love the child, tland then they would take care of the religious duties in case parents can't. Better than "religious" person not in love with the family. My choice as a Catholic parent.

The parents chose you despite your lack of strong catholic credentials and the priest allowed you to be godparents despite the fact that you did not qualify.

It would appear that either the parents and preist were lax or that they saw something good in you and your husband that went beyond the restrictions of Catholic teachings.

Just be the caring, involved people you are and don't worry about the expectations of the Catholic church. No one has given them priority up to now.

My oldest has the best godmother ever. She sends birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, a card on Easter, a card on Halloween. I don't even remember what the anniversary of my kid's baptism was, and I would never expect her to.

YOu sound like lovely people, but people who should not have been chosen to be godparents of a Catholic child. YO obviously don't know much about Catholicism. I wonder how you were allowed to be godparents.

The Godparent's role is to participate in the child's life, being a mentor and demonstrating Catholic values in the process.
So usually that means socializing regularly and offering presents at the normal times, for Christmas and birthdays.

(DH is ostensibly the Catholic in this equation, but he is beyond clueless about this.) Our godson's baptism "anniversary" is coming up. What should we be doing to recognize it?
