Thats is true with ANYTHING you put on a stove. Isnt it?

My MIL has a cute one with a bird on the top. Do NOT get that one. You need to remove the (hot) bird / spout cover to pour the hot water. Really poor design.

OP here - thanks!

No electric mostly because I don't want another thing with a cord taking up space on my (small) countertop.

Chantal FTW. Pretty colors, too.

Aesthetics.

Plus I can use the stovetop kettle without power (gas).

OP, I have a Chantal kettle with a Hoehner harmonica whistle. Not low-pitched, necessarily, but not grating, either. Almost pleasant.

Chantal kettles have a low tone. Their whistles are made by the Horner harmonica company iirc

The ikea tea kettle has a nice, lower-pitched whistle.

So it comes with a siren?

Ha! Siren not included.

Unless you have a reason for wanting stovetop, go electric. Game changer!

Check Amazon reviews--the whistle is usually addressed.

I sadly had to retire my favorite-ever tea kettle, which had a low pitched whistle. No idea who made it. Anyone own one of these? I think maybe they call it a "train whistle" kettle.

Not interested in an electric kettle, just a regular one I can put on the stove.
