Women with children of color are also welcomed.

No. But they only want mothers of color and they want you to do community organizing.

I'm curious about this as well. The chapter website I saw (can't remember if it was DC MD or VA) seemed to really emphasize the SAHM/PTWM aspect. Are they welcoming to FT working mothers?

I just joined. I wish I sought them out sooner. I have my first event in a couple of weeks.

Have you heard about Mocha Moms, Inc.?

They are not a play group of children, but instead their focus is on offering support to mothers. As a mother, I know that I get so consumed with my babies and my husband that I forget to take the time to care for myself. Through Mocha Moms I have forged friendships with other women and once a month, during their Mom's Night Out event, I get to act like an adult and be with other women doing some relaxing and extraordinary things.

Check them out hen you get a chance: www.mochamoms.org. They have several chapters in the DC area as they were founded in Prince George's County in 1997.
