OP here, my instinct was to just let it go. but I wanted to double check it. twin was in quotes b/c I haven't had coffee yet! we live in a small town house so 1 extra person does make a difference. we won't have enough seats for everyone etc and I thought it might be weird to have a kid at the party who doesn't know the other kids....but I am reminded now that at 6/7 you pretty much just play with whoever anyway. so hopefully it will all work out.
this is our first twin friend so we don't have experience with it--are twins just treated as a package deal until an older age? if you invite one, you invite both etc?

If same sex twins I would strongly urge you to have both twins. Guess what they are in first grade, and next year your precious snowflake could be in the class of the other twin. It's only first grade and I guarantee you over the next 12 years, your child will be in the class with the other twin.

As a parent of twin boys I can see what happened. From the twin moms perspective the invite didn't say one child or which one. Also, remember she has two kids in two classes so she might not even realize which boys are in which classes. Finally, twin moms throw the best birthday parties and the kids love them as its more kids from more classes. My kids are older and as someone who has been there and done that I guarantee you will realize allowing both to come is the right call especially as they are same sex twins.

I don't think you can uninvite him but I think it's rude of the other Mom. I would write back and say something like thanks for rsvping, I didn't know Marlo and Larlo knew each other? He's certainly welcome if they do.

Welcome them both but the parents should have asked for clarification before assuming both were invited. I had the same happen to me and I made arrangements for both and then neither showed....

My son wanted to invite a kid in his 1st grade class to his bday party . So I got the email address of the parent from the class list and sent out a group email to the few kids he wanted to invite. One parent just wrote back that BOTH her sons are excited to attend. I didn't know her son had a twin in the same grade and we didn't intend to invite him. We are worried about having too many kids at our house and my son doesn't actually know this "extra" child. The twin is not friends with the rest of the group we invited.
But, since I wasn't super clear in my wording I feel like it's too late and we just have to welcome both the twins. Do you agree?
