There's another 4 set of books, each one is an element name (Earth, Air, Fire, Water) - It's a good set, I read it at the beach one year.

My tween DDs read the Selection books and enjoyed them, but they are really for teen girls.

Eh my good friend who is a librarian recommended them and they are still good reads. There's quite a bit of good "teen" literature out there, hopefully you don't limit yourself just because you think you're too "old" to read it

Reading Bone Clocks right now - it's been a good read so far.
Station Eleven is by far the best dystopia I've read in the last couple years.
A Man Called Ove was a lovely book.

PP again, the series is by Terra Harmony.

Thought of a few more:

Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning (5 in that series)

The Portal Chronicles weren't bad, by Imogen Rose, quick reads though

Storm Born by Richelle Mead (4 in this series)

Another by Richelle Mead, her Georgina Kincaid Succubus series (6) - These are a favorite of mine, I re-read them once a year or so.

Where are you going on vacation? I've been trying to read books set in my destination and it's awesome.

Hmm... Trying to think of books with a bit of a fantasy/sci fi edge for adults:

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro
and this one is incredibly dark (so depends on what you are looking for!), but stuck with me for years: Blindness by Jose Saramago

Probably not helpful for your purposes, but I enjoyed it.

I have also checked the Hunger Games books and the Giver out of the library. Those might be closer to what you're looking for.

Read those - enjoyed them.

I really loved The Rosie Project. There is a follow up too, but I haven't read it yet.

20 hour flight - what was the last (fiction) book you read?

I lean towards sci-Fi and fantasy, but it can be anything.
