Little tip on Couchon Butcher. If you sit at the bar you get full service and do not have to wait in line to order your sandwich and then try and find a table.

A dive place that I like for local food in the quarter is Coops. In the Warehouse District I love Cochon Butcher for great sandwiches. Gotta try a muffuletta.

I have eaten here on two different trips to NOLA. Once for brunch and once for dinner. Both times it was INCREDIBLE!

OP here - thanks all! We are going for French quarter fest too, staying in Treme, but arriving Thursday so have a night for dinner before the food stand gorging begins. I will check these out. Love the FQF!

Oh gosh, there are so many amazing places. Please give a neighborhood so I can help to narrow down the list.

Going this weekend. We're not planning to bring fancy clothes or anything, so not looking for a 3 star kind of place, just really good local food, preferably in an environment where wearing khakis is good enough. Thanks!
