I used to nanny for really rich people. I got to fly on a private plane with their child which was super cool. It was an international flight so the immigration guy came right onto the plane to check our passports.

We take the nanny on vacations with us. I haven't been in a supermarket in months - someone else does our food shopping for us. They also do the basic errands - post office, dry cleaners, places like that.

Op here- Please do not ruin this with snark or the you are rich debate. We make about half of that and would not have felt this set up to to be possible when our kids were newborns bc we made far less and had more student debt. While amazingly awesome this does not 'surprise' me in terms of what's on my radar of what it possible but might surprise someone else, which is why I didn't define "rich". Sometimes the things that are totally ordinary to you are like shocking and dream-world amazing to someone else. So, I am just curious and wanted to hear from people. Please do not stifle the thread!

Night babycare support- HHI of less than 220k but we had one for three weeks. It cost $3k for 3 weeks and was a lifesaver.

Yes! On the two month vacay...my first thought is how do we accumulate that kind of time off and then we would have to save for years and...oh, right, if you have to think about it like this, not your world.

This would have saved my life. What a great way to take care of yourself. Almost makes me want to have another baby...

We are comfortably off...upper middle class (the "poors" around here in some circles) with typical DC-type jobs- think lawyers, think tank, middle career researchers. One of my favorite things about dcum is learning about the stuff rich people do/can afford/consider typical. This is a totally non-judgmental thread. It is intended to be enlightning. Can you share some of your discoveries? I.e. you click on a thread and it leaves you thinking, "huh. I had no idea that was a thing. Cool window into a totally different world!"
