I feel like I'm in my 20s, and I'm in my 50s. I start talking to 20something folk, and see them looking at me funny. Then I realize that they think they're talking to their mother!! I think I'm talking to a peer!! When I see women my age, I think they're OLD!! I've got to fix this.

I'm in my fifties feel like 30's. My husband is 40 he acts older than me. I do have a kid in elementary school, so that seems to keep me young weather I like it or not. Some of the moms look so bad I can't believe they are about 20 years younger. I think being at a good weight helps a lot!

+1 I'm in my upper 50's and have felt like a 17 year old since I was 17. Physically, I am aware I can't do the things I can do when I was 17, as much or as often, but I still do them all. I am definitely wiser, have made mistakes, and make better decisions now because of that. But, inside, still feel 17.

You don't have to act your age in the sense of how my in-laws from another culture do. Over a certain age, they have to sit with the "elders" in a different room and act formal and talk about olden things.

You do have to understand that no matter how you feel and what you do, everyone younger sees you as old. Just be yourself. Own your age. You can be an interesting, cool old person, full of life and curiosity, tolerant and embracing new things, as long as you're not seeming to try hard at being/acting "young."

I feel like I'm in my 30s. Yet I am almost 50. I think I even act like I'm in my 30s. I'm truly having a hard time reconciling the fact that I am aging with how I feel inside. My body/face are changing and I don't know how to deal with that. How do you "act" your age? And do you have to?

Well, that's the frustrating thing about getting old and/or chronic illnesses--being a hyper teenager at heart, but in such poor health that going to the gym is about as feasible as a trip to the moon.

I'm 48 but in my head, I'm eternally 28-31. I'm serious, I just proceed along in the world as if I'm about 30 (speech pattern, manner of dress, hairstyle, leisure activity choices).

So, I'm always a little taken aback momentarily when the world reflects back to me that I am, in fact, 48.5, not the young woman in my head ("oh. I didn't know you'd be joining us in the muddy buddy run, Susan.")

I'm really immature. It's not a desperate clinging to youthful beauty and currency that's behind this, because I've never been pretty or had the power that comes with it.

I like your perspective. I should try to lower my inner age. I just started going to the gym, sounds like you should too.

As I approach my 50's I feel there are certain parts of me that feel like it's stuck in the 20's or 30's. My mom is almost 80 and she says she still feels like she's in her 30's. At that age, it's the body keeping you back if your wits are still about you.
