Don't know about Symphony V. PIS, but if you do get a portable pump I have a SpeCtra and a PIS and prefer the SpeCtra. It's heavier though.

I didn't notice a difference between the two in terms of output. The Symphony was a bit smoother feeling though.

The PISA is much better for when you go back to work. The Symphony is huge and heavy.

+1. I have the Ameda Elite hospital-grade (not the Medela symphony) at work. The hospital grade is faster, and I get more volume with it.

Meant to add that I have the Medela PISA at home.

Honestly, I haven't noticed a huge difference between the two. But maybe that's just me! You will not be wanting to tote the hospital grade pump around....will insurance cover the PISA?

I EP'd for 6 months and I had no difference in output between the two. I kept with the Symphony for a long time because I was afraid that I would get less, but I never had any difference or decrease in supply once I switched when I went back to work at 3 months.

DS was born a tiny bit early and isn't
A great breastfeeder so I've been doing
A lot of pumping during his first five
weeks of life.

I have a prescription for hospital grade
Pump (have been renting one so far)
But wondering if I should stick with
Hospital grade symphony or just get
The medela pump in style advanced so
I can more easily tote the pump when I
Return to work in September.

I am a journalist so am frequently running
Around throughout course of work day. Is there
Really that much of a difference in output between the two pumps?
