Cornell is an absolute pressure cooker, but has amazing science departments.

I think Cornell and Brown are very different settings. I don't think the difference in prestige, if any, between the two is not worth basing your decision on. (Brown has a med school too)

Cornell, but that's a very odd bake-off you're setting up here.

It does have a school of engineering, but as an alum who was friends with many of the people in the program, half were extremely smart--the other half I pray didn't go on to design anything safety related. Don't know much about Brown and the sciences. Everyone I know who went there were liberal arts majors.

Has your kid visited the schools yet? Cornell is about 3 times the size of Tufts from a population size. Truly your kid will probably find his academic and social niche at any of the schools but there all rather different.

Doesn't Tufts have a medical school? I would have assumed pre med would be good.

Is this really a question?

Cornell has a great engineering school, but also tons of variety so you can take some really fun electives. Anything from the arts & sciences school, college of agriculture & life sciences, hotel administration, architecture... it's a big school.
