Every school, every where does spring break trips for every kind of club and sports team. Both public and private. What is the problem here?

My kids' school (public) went to Florida for spring break. *shrug* they did fundraising. The kids enjoyed themselves.

My personal fave is technology and book fee...and in some years school supply list...

How about you?

The reason there are additional costs is because not all grades have the same technology and supplies. Makes sense to me

Our school goes to Myrtle Beach one year and Florida the opposite year. Very inexpensive. No more than $500 for a 4 night trip and includes food. Park tickets are extra but are at a group discount.

I think it is a great opportunity and good team bonding.

My only concern is the money does not go thru the school and those receiving FA, do not get a discount, which can leave some kids not going.

If you are shelling out $35K+ for private school, I find it interesting that the OP is surprised by this. Even some public school sponsor spring break trips to Europe. Now, if these trips were mandatory, I might see why the OP is surprised.

My DC in public school went on a more local preseason trip. We also paid for that of course. I believe there are limits to how far (miles wise) they can go in MCPS.

Define "reasonable"?

Interesting. OP can I ask which school (especially for Baseball)? Or others if you know different schools that offer this type of team building opportunities I would love to hear.

I think our school does every other year. It's not mandatory of course but it's great for team bonding. And as a PP mentioned the schools do it for chorus and other groups as well. I wouldn't be surprised if financial aid helped some kids go because that seems to be the case for most school-led programs at our school.

Our school provides financial aid for these trips.

Not every year... But our chorus and other clubs do something similar... But they go to Europe.

Hence this is happening at the 40k a year private school. Makes the kids feel special. They get to bond.

I was surprised at this. Teams in lacrosse and baseball heading to Florida for spring break training. Seems extravagant. Do all schools do this? What about public schools?
