Did the contract state that the security deposit was non-refundable?

My kids go to the Montessori across the street. Drop offs for that school would be very, very difficult as it is on the GW parkway (my kids' school has a garage for entry).

If I had a baby, I'd try Hopkins House. We used them for two years with my youngest and really thought they did a great job (more affordable than American Day btw).

I've heard not great things. It's also difficult for pick ups and drop offs due to being on the parkway. Check out Hopkins house or American day school.
