Rome is awesome. It's just three cities in nine days is a lot. But it's great.

I would pick one or two major sites and one or two neighborhoods in each city you want to explore, rather than trying to cram in a ton of stuff. I love the Tower of London, Tate Modern, British Museum, Forum, Vatican, Capitoline Museums, etc., but there also is no substitute for wandering and taking in a great neighborhood. Rome is particularly fun for that, since you can duck into churches to see Caraveggios while also wandering around. You don't want to try to see so much that you never linger over a glass of wine I'm Paris or grab gelato in a gorgeous piazza in Rome.

Rome is great. Never had a problem with pick pockets. Barcelona is the best known for that. The airport has announcements over the loud speakers to be aware of that.

Of the three OP is considering, I found London to be the least interesting probably bc there wasn't the challenge of dealing with a different language.

OP you will be exhausted jetting so quickly through three huge cities. Pick one and focus on that.

I think I want to see some of the major sights. We don't really like to have "down time" on our trips. I also like museums, but DH does not have a ton of patience so we can't spend a long time in any of them.

Rome is not gross! What a crazy thing to say! It's incredible. All 3 cities are great. With such a whirlwind tour, have a think about the kinds of things you'd like to do. Do you want to focus on the big sights - Tower of London, Eiffel Tower, Colloseum? is every day going to be really busy or do you want to build in some down time? Etc

Rome is the pickpocket capital of the world, so just be extra careful.

OP here- guys, I already booked, bad idea or not. I used a fairly crazy combination of miles and credit card rewards to get the least expensive trip I could, so it's not like this is a really expensive trip or anything. The pp who called rome "gross" kind of depressed me, but oh well.

I am writing from Rome: don't skip Rome. If you like history and food, you'll enjoy it. Migrants are gone for the most part having moved north. Safe as any city if you are not naive. 3 days is enough. Skip London.

That's way too much for nine days which is really seven days when travel to and from the Continent. Pick one and explore that.

NP - we're going to London in June and went to spend three days hiking in the Cotswold with a day trip to Oxford. Could you suggest where in the Cotswold would be a good location to stay.

You are going to too many places to enjoy yourself. Why not do Rome and Tuscany (you can take the train).

I have never been to any of these cities. Tell me and my DH what to do! (No kids this trip) I know, I should have booked longer than 3 days in each, but our schedules and finances just did not permit that!
