Very likely - after all, that's how he got John Kerry and Chuck Hagel confirmed, by floating names he knew would make the GOP flip out, then ultimately nominating his real choices once they'd blown their collective wad.

Smart political move. Republicans in disarray and candidate has unimpeachable credentials as a centrist. Potentially puts folks like Grassley, Ayotte, Kirk, Toomey and Johnson on the hotseat.

Maybe THIS is why the metro is shut down! To take attention away from the nomination!
