I went to a game this year as a fan of the visiting team. Despite being Homecoming, I think there were more of the Visiting team fans in attendance. Pretty weak sauce for UMD.
Other than the student section, you can pretty much sit anywhere and be fine.

Buy the tickets through your visiting team's booster club. I would not be concerned about the view. Your experience will be better if you are sitting with people cheering for your team (not against your team).
If your seats are in the upper deck, you'll be able to see EVERYTHING develop because it's so high up.

Want to take DS (9) to a game in October in College Park. We're the visiting team and I'm looking for advice on where to buy the tickets, away from the student section and preferably in a location where DS will be able to see very well. I can get row A in section 6 but the tickets are very pricey.
