Afternoon tea at the Ritz is a memorable, formal affair. Definitely go if price is no issue. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to look at the Wolesley.

I like the Ritz, especially for the setting. It's like stepping back in time. The Palm Court is such a beautiful room, nothing else really compares. Claridges is an excellent choice as well and considered "the best" by many. I've also done tea at the Berkeley (nontraditional-great for fashion lovers) and the Dorchester, which is a good choice, too. I was less thrilled with sitting in the promenade but the tea itself is lovely. As a side note, the spa at the Dorchester is absolutely breathtaking! Enjoy!

If it's good, the expense is fine as I'm okay with a vacation splurge.
Also okay with dressing up! I did see some reviews online where people were complaining there were people in jeans still allowed in for tea.
