I go to healthcare for women, and my dr has said to wait for one period before ttc after my miscarriage...

So sorry for your loss. I had a chemical pregnancy in September. My OB told us to wait one cycle although I know plenty of people who didn't wait. Ultimately, I felt I needed to give myself some time so I was ok with waiting. We got pregnant after two cycles of trying. I'm 17 weeks pregnant and everything looks great so far. Good luck!

I miscarried at 9 weeks. My OB insisted that I wait for one normal cycle before trying again. We waited that cycle and tried again the following cycle. No luck. Now on our second cycle of trying to conceive post-miscarriage.

I counted the miscarriage bleeding as a period, and then never got another one, so we got pregnant two weeks later. He's a year old now. (and a boy, obviously). It was quite early - somewhere between a chemical and a miscarriage.

My OB said that waiting was just for dating purposes, but they've got ultrasounds for that, and due dates are estimates anyways. He came four days before his due date, so we were right. (When asked for LMP, I just gave the date I really started bleeding from the miscarriage.)

I've had two miscarriages (one at 6 weeks, one at 7.5 weeks) and both times I waited one full cycle to TTC again. That was more for my own sanity. I've also had one chemical pregnancy. Essentially my period was like 4 days late and if I hadn't tested, I wouldn't have even known about it. I did not wait after that cycle because physically/mentally it was much easier.

For those who didn't wait for a first period, did you conceive a boy or girl? Online I was reading you're more likely to have a girl. We're not hoping for a certain gender, but just curious if that's true for anyone here...

I had a m/c at 9 weeks. My OB told me there was no reason to wait. We did wait (because we had a trip planned and I didn't want to stress TTC). Got pregnant and carried to term the following cycle.

I didn't wait after a mc at 6 weeks. How holding a one month old from that cycle. I'm so sorry for your loss but good luck!

I had an early miscarriage and didn't wait a full cycle. My doctor said there wasn't evidence to support waiting and if I was emotionally ready to go ahead and try. We already had one that was nearing a year old and wanted them close together so we went for it. I got pregnant that month. Now eight months along.

I had a 10 week loss, miscarried naturally, and unexpectedly got pregnant again before my cycle had resumed. Carried to term. So sorry for your loss.

I had a "chemical pregnancy". Meaning it only showed up on the hormones/pee stick . I had waited a while to do the test. Was so excited, but bled the next day. Took another preg test and the lines still showed but were not bright.

Didn't wait to keep trying. But it took me another 3 months. Healthy baby boy is 15 months old now!

I'm sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage in early Jan and started trying after my hCG levels went to zero. No luck thus far. My midwife said it's fine to try and that my body won't become pregnant until it's ready for it. Good luck!

The first time I didn't wait, but I didn't get pregnant immediately -- took 4 more cycles. Then I miscarried again, and that time I did wait because I didn't want to take any chances and my doc wanted to track my HCG to zero, which took nearly a full month. Getting ready to try again soon.

There are a lot of opinions on this. I did a lot of DCUM searches after my first loss and talked to my midwife and now, my RE. The consensus seems to be that there is no scientific reason to wait; it's primarily for dating purposes (or testing purposes if you are trying to track your HCG level down). There's some thought that the lining might take a month or two to build back up and not be able to support a pregnancy immediately, which could cause another early miscarriage. But anecdotally there are also tons of women who get pregnant immediately and carry to term. So basically, if you are ready physically and emotionally to try, there is no reason not to. If you want to wait, that's also fine. There's no good answer and miscarriage basically just sucks.

I'm sorry for your loss.

If you had an early miscarriage, did you wait for your first period before ttc again?
