Cruise- I'd rather just spend my vacation on one island where I can really explore and experience some semblance of the culture rather than bop from island to island on a floating shopping mall and only get 9 hours or whatever on each stop
Vegas- just tacky
OBX- boring
Jamaica, Dominican Republic, etc- I don't feel comfortable lounging at a luxury resort in places where the locals are dirt poor

Most third world countries apart from Egypt and Cambodia (for their pyramids and Angkor Wat, respectively).
Cruises - boring.
Mostly because of transportation issues and also because of diseases. I'm married to a virologist, so know far more than I want to about those.
What excites me is the beauty of Nature (National Parks, the Alps), beautiful and historic cities, world-class museums and buildings, archeological sites critical to our understanding of humanity.

Most of Africa (disease, too hot)
most of the middle east (violence, attitude towards women, no religious freedom and very limited freedom of speech)
the rainforests (snakes and bugs bigger than me freaks me out)
Mount Everest (too high and too much work to get to the top)
That building in Chicago with the glass floor.

Me too! I don't think I'd ever want to do DR or the like.
It's not that I hate the beach, I've enjoyed my trips to Hawaii and Mexico immensely, but with those, there was a lot to do besides the beach- ruins in Mexico, hiking/helicopter rides/national parks/Pearl Harbor/etc. in Hawaii, etc. I don't want a vacation that's spent within the confines of a resort.
