None of my three kids went to those preschools and all were admitted to "Big threes".

Sidwell, pk, along with several others from Ncrc, and it helped. A lot.

Aidan has a tiny graduating class by 6th grade but students tend to do well I terms if getting into schools. Last few years students have gone to Maret, Sidwell, NCS, Holton. They have strong links to Field and Burke too. Alot of kids leave before 6th and have gone to GDS, Sidwell. Some to public and charter schools too. Wouldn't worry about it.

Almost all the Little Folks kids go to Beauvoir. Not sure how strong the connections are anywhere else.

Can't speak to Aidan, but know NCRC and LFS a bit. LFS tends to have the highest percentage of kids that go to Big 3, compared to other schools. Could be for a variety of reasons: legacy, sibling as well as director's connections. She works hard and is in touch with the admissions team. Not everyone will get in, but pretty much every family makes it into a good independent school.

That said, pps are right. You can go pretty much anywhere and get in to a big 3 if your kid is a good fit for the school.

That is St Johns preschool in Georgetown. And they both have friends from preschool in school with them now even though sat Johns is one of the smallest preschools around.

You are going to find anecdotal evidence on both sides of this question. The better way to consider this question is to look at how many kids (or what percentage of each class)from the various preschools go on to the Big 3 or Big 5 schools each year - if that's what you are interested in. There will always be outliers, so asking the question on this forum will not give you an accurate read.

At sidwell and no (pk). Incidentally, one of DSs friends switched from our school to NCRC after a year and didn't get in to any of the big 3 and is now in public school. I really don't think it matters where you go to nursery school.

DC is at GDS and did not go to one of those schools.

Also (not OP), for those that got into one of the Big 3 this year, how many go to one of those preschools? I would add River as well.

For those parents whose kids now go to a Big 3 or even a Big 5, did your kid's attend an elite private DC preschool? I listed the three above since these are the ones we're considering now. Just wondering if it helped your child have a leg up.
