Not the PP but the stress is caused by the parents realization that the path to HYPMS will be harder/impossible (in their minds) because it doesn't pass through STA/NCS.

Haha as s Beauvoir parent I think this is pretty funny! I didn't attend an ivy and quite frankly after pk through 12 tuition I would be thrilled if my kids ended up in state. But yes although we line Beauvoir precisely because it concentrates on the elementary school years I could see having to apply out for youth as a draw back. Good luck! Two great schools.

Thanks! We are at 99% sure now we are going to accept at Beauvoir. We reached out to the psychologist who admitted the WPPSI-IV to our DC to let her know our results and to ask if she had any insight into which would be a better fit based on her observations of our DC. She said we had great options but based on what she observed she recommended Beauvoir because she believes our DC will initially do better in a structured environment. She said if we opted for GDS she would recommend we explain to the teacher our DC responds better to clear directions than directions worded as options. She said she thinks overtime that will change but for now she thinks Beauvoir would be an overall better fit. I really appreciated her candidness about her observations, so we are ready to sign the contract barring something crazy happening at the accepted parent's reception.

Im definitely not a troll, and those where the testers exact words. Not sure why anything about it sounds like a troll. Her words didn't pass judgment on either school. She simply said my DC needed clear directions and in a more progressive school like GDS she might choose to focus on the things she liked and dismiss working on things that where more challenging to her. It was not a negative comment on GDS, but an analysis of her my child would perform in an environment that allowed maximum flexibility and choice.

My DH brought up the issue regarding GDS and the benefit of not having to go through the application process again. My perspective is slightly different. While yes, I'm dreading the idea of going through the process again I like the idea of having a few years to evaluate my DCs learning style, likes and dislikes. There seems to be some benefit to having the chance to evaluate and then pick a school suited to our DC. Maybe I'm being pie in the sky about it all. I think I'm convincing DH that's the better approach -- though he keeps reminding me I was the one a stressed out basket case and not him. LOL

You sound like a Beauvoir family.. Go with your instinct! You'll feel constantly annoyed at GDS.

It appears to get harder and more emotional as the children get older. A school that runs through high school was important to me. Having said that, should you accept Beauvoir, you'll be positioned well for middle school (by attending a school like Beauvoir) when you have to go through the admissions process again.
