Nope. Had 3 so far and I'm 40 weeks + 4; started at 3 cm at 38 weeks and have held steady since then.

nope, sure didn't. my membranes were swept @ 40 weeks. i walked a couple miles afterwards (despite the pain) and it did nothing. went another week before induction and eventual c-section.

I had several membrane sweeps. I finally went into labor at 41 weeks and 4 days (yikes). I had A LOT of fluid and so my baby was very "floaty" and not putting a lot of pressure onto my pelvis/cervix. Despite that I was walking around 5 cm dilated for over a week. When I went into labor it was very clear to me (having given birth before). I went to the hospital after a few hours of contractions, I was still at a 5 cm. I labored for a few more hours, still a 5 cm. They broke my water bag- gave birth one hour later

With my second pregnancy I had a sweep done at 38 weeks and at 39 weeks. At 38 weeks I had contractions for a few hours, and then it stalled. At 39 weeks, sweep done in the afternoon, early contractions through the evening, active labor started around 4 AM.

I wanted to have a VBAC so my OBs wouldn't do other methods for induction. It's not comfortable but it was worth it to me to try to avoid a repeat C/S.

Nope - but breaking my water did and labor was quick.

Yes, mine did. Sweep at 11 am, in early labor by 2 pm and active labor by 10 pm.

No, but then you're still on the early side. The baby may just not be ready yet, though I can appreciate it's hard if you haven't been this pregnant before (mine came at 40w5d and 41w2d).

I had it done but didn't go into labor for 3 days (and by then I was almost 42 weeks), so I don't think it worked for me. I think you'd know by now if it had worked. I have known people who had it done and went into labor within 12 hours - whether that would have happened anyway, who knows, but to me that seemed more like maybe it had actually worked.

No. I was part of a study to document the effectiveness of the procedure, and it definitely did not work. I had to be induced.

I got my membranes swept yesterday at 38w6d. I was 2cm and 50% effaced when my OB did the sweep in the office yesterday and she said my cervix was soft and stretchy. First baby came at 38w5d so we both expected this one to be earlier. Afterwards I had a tiny bit of spotting and a few hours of light cramps, then nothing (the sweep itself was uncomfortable for a few seconds but didn't really hurt). If the sweep worked, would I know by now, or how much time should I give it? If you had one and it worked, how long after the sweep did you go into labor? TIA!
