At our school, there are too few acceptances at the top schools so Naviance won't show the scatter grams. Does anyone know where else we could see that info?

That information should still be available through Naviance - it's just not in chart form. Go to the school's page on Naviance and click on "School Stats" if it appears. That will show you the number who applied, the number accepted/denied/deferred/enrolled, as well as the average stats of those who applied, the lowest stats of accepted students, and the average stats of accepted students.

I've seen these stats for colleges with as few as five applications.

If you are in FCPS, you can go to the career counselor. They have access to the scattergrams for all of FCPS and will show you those.

However, they will not tell you very much. For the very top schools assume the ones at the top right on the scatter gram have a chance and the acceptances in the lower left quadrant are athletic spots (or extremely large donation families). Assume your child will need all As or almost all A's (A-s don't count), 1500 SAT on 1600 scale. 2200 SAT on 2400 scale. And one or two kick ass ECs. A really really really good essay or two.

The data from our large NoVa public seemed pretty accurate, and there was no shortage of reported or tracked rejections from more competitive schools.

Keep in mind the data reflects SAT/ACT scores and the final GPAs of the students who applied to different schools. If your kid is taking weighted courses as a senior, his/her GPA probably will go up. In that case, the Naviance data may lead kids to aim too low.

My kids put in accepted but not sure if they put in rejects. Large public.

My children go to a large public and while the Naviance might not be perfectly accurate it is accurate enough to provide you with good pertinent information.

At kids school we're asked to supply reject/accepted etc. stats, including scholarships.

At our high school you can look as a "guest." The code is given on the Counseling Center page of the website.

Yes - generally they will give you a log-in sometime during junior year, if they are going to provide access.

My son's school maps his stats onto the overall Scattergram which is great. At a glance you see how he compares to recent applicants from his school.

Yes and they have to be willing to provide access.

Can you only access it if your DC's school has it?
