Blue bird has the 8:1 ratios OP was talking about. We moved to a preschool with 5:1 ratios, and dd is getting much more attention.

I love Little Acorn Patch. Teachers are great, there's very little turn over on lead teachers (although the aides do shift between rooms so it can be hard to know how long some stay.). Since it's not a chain, it's not horribly expensive. They have special events (puppet shows, musicians, etc) every week or so. They were invaluable in helping me get my kid potty trained. My only beef with the place is that their parking lot is horrible. There just aren't enough spots during dropoff/pickup and it's a huge pain.
We also were in Childtime for a while. I wasn't a fan. I didn't find the director to be very sensitive to the needs of my kid, who is a pretty picky eater. She wouldn't let me bring in any outside food so my daughter went hungry some days. I also didn't like the proximity of the daycare to the other stores in that strip mall along Huntington Ave. People can just walk by and look at the kids (in some of the rooms). The outdoor space also wasn't very nice.
I've heard good things about Northern Virginia Academy of Early Learning but that's further away from our house than LAP so we didn't really investigate that one.
Good luck in your search!

Anonymous wrote:Not there...if you are coming in from telegraph road you can take the Eisenhower road ramp. Turn right onto Eisenhower and then turn left on Holland. From there you can turn right on Jameson (light before Duke street) and BB II is at the corner of Jameson and West. If you go to BBoA , you go to Duke, turn right, then left on Peyton and right on Prince, the right on Commerce.
I did that commute for 5 years. Both locations allow you to avoid the Duke Street traffic for the most part.
