You probably have to bleach it several times to get it white.

I would probably take him to a salon so they can do it right without frying his hair and burning his skin. What good is white hair if it looks shitty because it's fried.

I have been coloring my boys' hair at home since they were in 6 th grade. It's cheap and easy. Have also gone to Hair Cuttery. That, on the other hand, isn't cheap. Sometimes the color doesn't come out the way they had hoped but they still love doing it.

OP, learn how to tell your son "No."

He's asking for parental control.

If you can't bring yourself to tell him "No" to something this trivial, you'll never be able to.

Buy a home kit and try it. He's young, and if his hair is short, it will grow out. If he is not attached to white, he can google dying your hair with Jello and see lots of cool stuff.

Salons tend to cost a lot for different colors--so much can go wrong and it takes forever.

Make sure you don't burn his scalp! Read up on what you're planning to do (though I'm sure you didn't need me to tell you that). Sounds awesome!

The stranger the color, the cooler he'll be!

because of the potential damage?

I called the salon - service starts at $42 ! And that's the aveda teaching salon.

I guess I'll go with a home kit. I'm afraid of pure peroxide. I tried do do my own hair once (same color - medium brown) and got orange.

Any suggestions? TIA

Before he does it, tell him to go watch JoshuaDtv on Youtube - I think it was a week ago or so. he tried to dye his hair and it turned orange. He's having such a hard time with his hair.

BTW, this is Miranda Sings, husband. (Colleen's husband).

I would not want to bleach his hair, but a color I'd support as long as it was a color I liked.

I'd buy a home hair coloring kit. Cheap and good enough for what he wants.

It will damage his hair, but as he wears it short, no big deal.
And white hair is hip, Manga-style!

I don't care - he's a free spirit. Gets straight-A grades and practices 2 instruments plus sports. No art in school -

DH is straight laced and never called attention to himself.

is this expensive? His hair is short/healthy and will get it cut out w/in a few months, I imagine. Many (not a lot) of kids at school play with hair color - saw a neighbor boy (8th grade) with a giant 'fro dyed bright blue!

Thoughts? How much $$ are we talkin' ?
