OP here- Thank you for everyone's comments. This gives us a bit more to work with. She will probably do intensified a one or two and go from there.

I suggest signing her up for intensified classes in the topics she is best at or enjoys and seeing how the first year goes. My child took 2 intensified classes as a freshman and now has 2 APs and 3 more intensified as a sophomore. The intensified classes don't seem to present that much more work than the regular and they are often more interesting.

She most likely should be in intensified science and math, as well. The ninth graders in intensified math are with mostly sophomores if they are in Algebra II and mostly Freshmen if they are in Geometry.

Intensified is the more in vogue word for honor roll.

Our DD will be entering high school next year at Wakefield. She did not attend APS schools up until this point so we are unfamiliar with the "intensified" term. How do you know if a student should be in a regular class or an intensified class? She has been an honor roll student all through middle school and plans to take the AP World History class in case that is a factor.
