Make sure you get your paperwork in to they know the correct dose (epipen or epi junior)

Even if you dont have insurance there are numerous ways to make sure your child does.

OP, are you in Virginia?

If you are in Virginia, the schools are required to stock epipens and inject any child who needs it, even if they do not have an epipen onsite at the school.

Let your school nurse know that you do not have insurance and do not have an epipen. Have your doctor fill out the epipen paperwork so they have it on file and let them know in person and in writing that they need to use the school epipen on your child if they have an emergency until you are able to fill the prescription (let them know you are working on it) This will buy you some time until you can let your prescription filled.

OMG, DD was just diagnosed with multiple food allergies. I had no idea these were that expensive. We have insurance, but I agree that these should be free like BC pills.

Are you a Costco member? They have a prescription plan for uninsured people. It might make the epipen affordable for you.

Check with the your school nurse/health aide and school social worker. There are funds to pay for glasses, hearing aids, meds, etc. for students in need at my local public school.

NP I find it terrible too! And the cost of insulin. Insulin is generic in other countries and has been around for decades.

We have had to epi our child before. It is terrifying to think of what could have happened if we did not have access to an epipen.

At the very least, your child should be insured through state programs.

I am sorry! Your doctor should be able to get you set up with some coupons. I also thought I heard of.a program a while back that helped those without insurance get epipens. I could be imagining it but I will try to see if I can find it.

Did you go to the epipen website? If not, check their competitors and ask the doctor to rewrite the prescription for another brand.

This. I get the coupons from my doctor.

We do not have insurance, and i need to buy 2 2-pack of Epipens (2 Epipens for school and 2 for home) for my son, which cost around $500 each pack, so $1000.
At CVS, they told me that I should be able to get coupons online. The coupons I found are for $100 but only if you present your insurance card.

Does anybody have any other leads?
