They should know too.

I don't know the girls family, at all. This is my hesitation.

Let's assume for the sake of argument that these parents think it's fine for their 13yo to have sex. Do you think that extends to unprotected sex?

Do you know the girl's mom at all?
If you do, then call her, and tell her what you heard.

Here's my story:
An acquaintance (a fellow mom at the same elementary of our younger kids) once called me because of something risky and dangerous that she heard about my oldest kid from her kid's girlfriend. I was shocked, heart palpitating, sweating, can't breath kind of shock.
She said "listen, if it's true, I would want to know and it sounds like it's true".
It was all true and we dealt with the issue straight on.
Next time I saw her, I gave her a big hug and thanked her a million times.
Total respect for her honesty and no hesitation in doing what was right for my kid.

yes... tell someone who can do something even if that isn't the mom of the girl.

It is never in a 13 year old child's best interest to be having sex. It just isn't. Concern for the child has to come before concern for yourself or your embarrasment.

I thought about telling the counselor since I know the girl and know the name of her BF.

My do isn't the boy. He's not her BF.

In this case, I'm not sure that knowing someone who knows the mother is close enough to have this discussion. Make sure your son is not the boy.

It's come to my attention that one of my sons female friends is having unprotected sex with her boyfriend. They are both 13. I don't know the boy, but the girl went to sons elementary school. I'm friends with one of the moms friends. What would you do?
