Metropolitan Doulas has night nurses. We had one from there and she was fantastic. I think pricing may vary based on experience. Highly recommend.

I used this service for 3 months. Totally reputable. They're not nurses, and they sleep, but they do it right next to your baby and get up so you don't have to.

I am looking to work as a mother helper. I am mother of two boys. Both my sons are going to be in school and I am available from 10AM-2PM daily.
I had my mom helped me for 6 months when I had baby number 2. It was a world of difference. I recovered faster, enjoyed my baby much much more. My husband was more relaxed and happier. So I understand the importance of getting help with your new baby.

I am a good cook and great household organizer. Very experienced mom who had colic babies before. I can do anything to help a new mom: from taking care of her infant (feeding, bathing, setting sleep routine etc), cooking or prep meals for you and your family, running errands, basic cleaning and organizing your house if needed. Anything you need so you can take a rest, sleep or just go out to have a cup of coffee with friends for a break.

I am master-level educated. Decided to stay home to take care of my kids. Don't enjoy corporate world anymore. I prefer to help moms and babies. In the mean time, I can make extra money for my kid's activities.

We may do this too. The thought of being up all night every night severely depresses me.

The rates are generally $25 to $30 per hour, and most night nurses stay for 8 to 10 hours - so that's anywhere from $200 to $300 per night depending on hours and level of experience. The selection process was easy: we told a manager our expected due date, and she sent us background information and experience information on a few potential nurses who would be available around the time of our due date. We held a phone interview with one and agreed to work with her. The plan is for her to come to our house for about 10 nights over the first few weeks (perhaps every other night or every third night depending on our needs). Our parents are elderly and we thought it would benefit us to have another set of hands around the house -- especially to help with late nights feedings, diaper changes and burping -- as we get more comfortable with the "new" routine.

The cost is expensive, but I think the extra help will be worth it. Other friends have opted for night nurses or full-time nurses, and they have had very positive things to say.

I posted on DCUM looking for one in the nanny section and found one that way w/my first. With my second, I used let mommy sleep occasionally, and also hired someone who formerly worked for them.

$300/night. Used for 6-8 weeks

that was me. we used Let Mommy Sleep. you do not have to contract for weeks at a time (but you can). we got someone on short notice, and i was very pleased with her.

we paid $26/hour 4 years ago.

We only used one once, when DS was still waking constantly and DH had to go out of town. It was definitely worth it for that purpose, because I didn't want to spend 48 hours alone and exhausted.

I don't think it's something I would do for nights/weeks at a time. I'd wait until you really need a break.

30/hour through an agency. 20/hour if you can get an independent person. Completely worth it to me at 20/hour. At 30/hour, I'm not sure. Depends on how desperate you are and how much the money means to you.

In general how much do night nurses cost and how long do people use them for?

i expect the cost to be prohibitively expensive but just want to collect information.

Was a night nurse worth it?
