Spend the time between now and then nurturing your child's love of learning, helping him/her find one or two areas of particular interest and - above all else - get him/her to read, read, read. Doing those things will hopefully lead to good grades, and prepare DC for the standardized test regimen.
We are a pretty laid-back family, and I've been a little surprised at how stressful and protracted this process has become. The later you can wait to start, the less time you'll have to spend in its throes.

should i come back in a year or two before driving myself crazy?

+1 OP, it is far, far too early to concern yourself with college issues, and DCUM is hardly representative of what the average person thinks about various colleges. Come back in about 4 years, and then take what you read with a grain of salt.
But stay away from the Chance Me forum. The majority of kids are overachievers who think an A- is a death sentence relegating them to community college (well, not all). The Parents Forum is pretty good, though, and Ask The Dean is good also.Anonymous wrote:Don't come back here. Go to College Confidential where people actually know what they are talking about.
