^^ This. Have the same cultural associations, both with specific kids I know with these names. Either works depending on what you prefer.

I prefer Layla. Agree with pp that Leela makes me think of children's shows.

Generally agree with this PP, but Leela I think of the human Sesame Street character Layla the Eric Clapton song.

Leela sounds like a Dr. Seuss character but Layla is pretty, if somewhat trendy.
