Automatically assuming that the teacher is your adversary is the worst thing you can do for your child's education. I've had the best luck treating the teacher like s/he and I are on the same team. The solution to this problem starts by emailing the teacher and asking what the bathroom policy is. If the teacher really is denying students trips to the bathroom, then you can include the principal in your communication.
