I would do 2 hall baths, because I think it gives you the most flexibility. Then you can use the 4 bedrooms for anything (office? craft room?). And future buyers will have ultimate flexibility. You avoid any sibling envy of who gets the "private" bath. Plus, you can get in to clean the baths without going through the bedrooms.

OP here. Thanks for all the responses. For those electing for a hall bath, would you still do double sinks?

We have our two girls' rooms connected by a Jack and Jill. We then have a hall bath for the guest room and the "office" (5th bedroom). I am glad to not have a J&J for the guest bath. First, when we don't have guests, it allows us to use that bathroom (which is actually closer to our family room than the powder room). Second, having complete privacy in a J&J is difficult. You have to remember to lock the doors into both bedrooms and then remember to unlock both doors. When we have a lot of guests and someone stays in one of my kid's rooms, this becomes a problem - people who aren't used to J&Js don't remember to lock and unlock both doors since they only use one of them.

On the sink question, the J&J has two sinks - one for each kid. But there is room for this and for counter space as it's a relatively long room. In the guest bath, there isn't room for two sinks and we have just the one - and, per my MIL's request, it is not centered, so that the counter space is all in one place and not split on either side of the sink.

If you have room for two sinks in the guest bath and think that you will eventually have a kid sharing that bathroom with guests, then I would go for it. If not, it's not necessary.

Yes. We have a JNJ bath between the kids' rooms and it's great. It keeps their mess in there and allows for the other guest bath to remain kid free. When we have guests, they have their own bathroom that nobody else uses, which allows it to stay cleaner and more private.

For OP, I am building new with the second floor having ensuite, hall bath and OF COURSE a JNJ Bath.

I would do one JNJ and one hall, too. My two kids are boy/girl and tweens, and the girl hates sharing and uses the hall bathroom for the most part now instead of the JNJ.

OP, We have a similar setup and have one JnJ and one hall bath. I think it works out well. If you end up with 3 kids, one can have their own bath and just share it when you have guests in town.

We have a JJ between our kids' rooms. The bathroom actually only has the tub and toilet in it, and there is a sink in each bedroom. It works and I think it's good for the kids to learn to share, I'd be less comfortable with it for a guest room.

When I was a kid I thought they were super cute and wanted one. As an adult visiting my parents new house, they are a total pain to share with the adult on the other side and makes for awkward door jiggling. So, I would not do two JnJ if one bedroom will be a guest room.

All bedrooms are on second floor. Master has its own bathroom. We have four additional bedrooms, with room for two baths. Should we do:
A. Both J-n-Js
B. One J-n-J and one hall bath
C. Two hall baths?

Also, in which circumstances would you do a double sink? Is more counterspace better? One of the bedrooms will be a guest room, at least until we finish the basement and probably even then.

We only have one toddler now but will probably have 1-2 more kids.
