We're staying here next month! I'd love to hear more about it.
NP but the Contemporary has a little path that leads from the hotel to the Magic Kingdom, so you can walk instead of taking the monorail.

IMO, the boat/music parade is annoying and antiquated, but the fireworks are great to watch from your room if you have young kids and don't want to deal with the crowds in the MK. We stayed in one of the new Vacation Club villas (not the over-water bungalows, just the villas) and our room was huge, had two separate full baths and was perfect for our family of 2 adults/2 kids. I've been going to Disney for 35 years, and we all agreed that the island vibe of the Polynesian, along with the luau and great pool/waterslide really add to the fun of staying there vs. one of the other on-property hotels. Our kids said it was their favorite place to stay in Disney, and we've stayed in mostly all of the Disney resorts over the years.
Thanks! What room type did you book? Themepark view?

It is right next to the concierge room with all the food, so you can easily slip out and in to bring breakfast, snacks, drinks etc. to your room. You also have a great view of the MK and can see the fireworks from bed. There are speakers along the path outside the buildings that pipe in the fireworks music so you can hear it too - just open the balcony door. (You can see them and hear the music if you aren't in that building if you sit outside, but it is very nice to sit in bed and watch the show.) You also can see the light and boat show on the lagoon (can't remember what it is called) from the room. We never noticed a noise problem with people going to/from the concierge room, but everyone also was pretty zonked at the end of the day.
We ended up in this room by chance during our last trip to Disney (5 years ago) and feel like we could never go back because we'll never have as a good a setup.
