You are more likely to get the Measles than Zika.

Its an unknown and seemingly avoidable risk. I wouldn't go.

OP - there have been no cases of Zika in Florida that have been actually transmitted in Florida -- meaning, so far, no mosquitos have bitten anyone and given them Zika in Florida. That may be because the mosquitos haven't migrated north yet since it's still cold, but May is still early for mosquitos in Florida, regardless.

Op here. Thanks. Grandparents live in southern Florida so we certainly know they have mosquitos in summer! We just have only been to Disney in cooler weather. Given that mosquitos in DC will probably have Zika by summer, I think I'm comfortable with the risk... We are staying on site so should be covered by disney's spraying! Just sounds much easier to go at 4 months pregnant than with an infant...

It has been a few years since we went, but we went in the last week of July and first week of August. I don't recall anyone in our group complaining of mosquitoes. I also think I've heard that Disney does spray their properties abundantly. This website (American Mosquito Control Association - below with quote) says most mosquitoes only travel about 1-3 miles, which means consistent spraying at the entire Disney property would be fine.

Supposed to go to Disney the first week of May with my parents, husband and 2 kids. I'll be about 4 months at that time, which seemed to make sense since my parents wanted to take the kids in the next year and I don't want to go with a newborn. We've been before and I don't remember mosquitos but it was much earlier in the year and we had some cooler days. Kids are super excited so I hate to cancel but also don't want to put this baby at unnecessary risk. My OB seemed on the fence.... Didn't say don't go (said I can use deet and probably be ok) but also didn't say it was fine. Would you postpone and go next winter with a 5 month old baby (and disappoint older kids) or go and wear deet and pray...
