I wonder hold old he was when he was neutered. If you wait too long, the hormones have already kicked in.

He was about 8 weeks old when we got him and neutered him as soon as the vet said go. This was 8 years ago so I don't remember exact timelines but it was not too long after. For him, it's dominance.

Why do you think?

Because they don't have a penis and try to hump your leg /the leg of everyone in your house / your chair legs, the TV console, random dogs in the neighborhood etc etc etc.

My neighbor's FEMALE Yorkshire terrier does this- it is not a sexual behavior, it is a dominance behavior. Sex of the dog has nothing to do with it.

I have never ever owned a dog who did this. Are you sure it was fixed?!?

Obviously not

We have always had male dogs and have never had humping issues. I have two family members who have female dogs and they are very temperamental and anxious, but I'm sure not all female dogs are like this. It's also nice that male dogs lift their leg, no dead spots in our lawn. I do think male dogs tend to bond more closely with females, our male dog adores me. My sister's female dog is closer to her husband.

I have a male cavachon and he's the best - sweet, playful and always happy. We have another female dog and she has severe separation anxiety and SHE tries to hump him frequently. Her urine is also burning circles in our grass. So I would definitely get a male.

I have one! He's a good boy and VERY VERY sweet affectionate. He's super needy when it comes to getting petted.

Goodness. For a moment I was afraid thus was another child naming thread.

Depends. I actually like males the most because they're more loyal to female owners. I haven't seen any major behavioral issues between my boys and girls that I've had, but boys tend to be more playful too.

Good afternoon. We are looking to get a cavachon puppy. Any reason to choose a male or female in particular? Whatever we get will get spayed/neutered. Thanks!
