It's my dad's middle name, and I think it's great. Go for it if you like it!

I also think it's nicer as a first name. Roy (or Royal) is exactly what the name means! In a middle name it kind of picks up that Wayne or Lee vibe.

I think of Roy Dupuis from La Femme Nikita.

If you like it, you should use it!

Roy was my grandfather-in-law's name. He was not a cowboy.

OK, depends on the middle name, and it would stand out.

Awful. Dirtbag name. I picture all the guys from The Outsiders, but much uglier when I hear the name Roy. Name your son Ryan or something that starts with an R that's a better name than Roy.

Cowboy isn't even an association at all for me with this name (although I do know I've heard of the cowboy). I think French king.

My best friend's husband is named Roy and he's awesome so I have a positive association, and Filipino, so not necessarily a cowboy name.

Too cowboy? It was my great-grandfather's name, and we had been planning to use it for a middle name. As our due date gets closer, though, I'm starting to think I like it more than our first name choice. Thinking of flip-flopping them, or keeping them in the same order, but calling our son Roy instead of his first name. DH, for his part, loves Roy, but is happy with the first name we picked too. Says he could go either way.

What does DCUM think?
