I'm a woman, and my biggest fear is that the man will turn into a manchild, expecting someone to take care of him - instead of a partnership of people helping each other.

I have seen so many relationships where a man ultimately reverts and a woman feels like they've gained another child with their husband.

Why does it sound like a huge loss for humanity? It is clearly not.

But really, some people proclaim they will never marry as if the world is begging them to. Don't want to marry? Knock yourself out. Who cares?

I guess DH and I are an anomoly. I was already fat. I worked a great job so DH's job did not matter as much.

Man's biggest fear: she's unilaterally decide she no longer wants sex. 2nd biggest fear is getting fat (not the Ph phat either).

Clearly both you & OP do not know what it's like to be in a loving and committed relationship. If you have these fears, you should avoid marriage.
