I don't like the look of Flor tiles. I agree they look cheap.

There is a Flor tiles store in Georgetown. I thought they looked cheap.

OP here. Can Flor tiles stand up to pets?

We like Flor tiles too. Just got a second rug for a different room. We wanted ~7ft square and we couldn't get the colors we wanted anywhere else.
They are small squares you stick together in whatever configuration you want.

+1 love Carpet Palace in Bethesda. We were also able to use a remnant. It's pricey though!

I've read about having area rugs bound together. I don't think it's too big of a deal and it's semi custom.
I've seen things in magazines and blogs about it. Quick Google/Pinterest search and you are on your way.
You can also get a remnant cut to size and bound as well. Go talk to a carpet guy.

Can anyone recommend a good source for a custom area rug? We have an L-shaped living/dining room that just looks all choppy and broken up with standard size area rugs. Plus, the floor is cold and I think carpet will be more comfortable. But, we don't want to go to full wall-to-wall.
Has anyone done this? Are you happy with the results? Who did you use?
