Now he's 50 and the women he meets tend to be divorced women with baggage or much younger women...and I don't think he's into either. He's a great guy, though, and would have made a wonderful father. I think he probably has a lot of women wondering the same things about him that OP is wondering about the man she knows.

It's this and do count him out unless he's been in counseling or figured this out on his own.

So are you interested in him OP for dating purposes or are you just being nosy and judgmental?

Those are called commitment issues.

It immediately tells me he's selfish and don's want to make the sacrifices people make in long term relationships and marriages. I not assume this, but I would not be surprised if he also had a personality disorder like narcissistic personality disorder.

+1

Even worse if he's attractive.

Tall, fit and handsome. Easily an 8 or 9.

Maybe he is happy with his life. Why does something have to be wrong?

Can't quite put my finger on what's wrong with him. The consensus is that he isn't gay, although I've witnessed gay men flirting with him on two separate occasions. The consensus is that he's attractive, fun and kind. The consensus is that he's dated really awesome women (but it never lasts longer than 4-6 months).
