That is very nice. I am not a room parent this year but have been and it does takes some time and planning for the kids. I wish more moms appreciated what other moms do. full time, part time, and SAHM all work hard.

We have room parents who collect $20 a family at the beginning of the year for all 4 parties. Any leftover goes to the teacher end of year gift.

Yesterday they had Dairy/peanut-free brownie bites, bag of Skinny Pop and a mini bottle water. They did a simple craft first. Then stopped to eat while parents took turn reading books to the kids. Then they finished off with games and dancing.

Lots of parents came.

Personally I'd prefer the hour to be spent learning and not consuming sugar.

Thank you for this!! I work part time so I have more time to spend helping at the school, and I know not all parents have the luxury to do it.

Cupcakes, bottled water, grapes, and a gluten free/dairy free/peanut free treat. I always bring a little extra in case younger siblings show up.

We had two crafts and two games.

The Room parents took funds at the start of the year to cover parties and other events in class time.

Gifts to teachers are handled separately - and individually by parents.

At our school, the PTA funds and prepares a bag for every student in the school--juice box, snacks, stickers, toy. The room parents usually provide a game and a craft.

At our school the room parents send out sign up geniuses to all the parents in the class with spots for people to volunteer for juice/water/treats/chips/fruit/veggies/running a game/running a craft/decorating/clean up/etc. It mostly works out that different parents volunteer for different things (if not, the room parent fills in the gaps).

Whichever parents volunteers to bring things, pays for what they bring themselves--at our school, class funds are now only used for the teacher holiday and end of the year gifts.

Interesting, ours was very elaborate with a lot of different games. Also paid for by class funds.

Decorate your own cupcakes, fruit, water.

We are also in charge of creating and implementing the activities for the party.

All items are purchased using money that parents sent in at the beginning of the year, so there is no extra cost to be a room parent, but it definitely takes work and time.

It was fun!

We don't have room parents at our ES. I think it works out great!

So, for today's party, the teacher sent out an email asking who wanted to contribute. Parents who did replied yes. Then, she followed up with an email telling each parent what to bring/send in.

I sent in juice boxes.

Today was my son's elementary school Valentine party. I am just curious as to what other room parents brought, and how much, to make sure i am bringing in appropriate things and quantity. I brought cupcakes, juice, and fruit.
