My MIL sends a box full of dollar store crap every minor holiday (Halloween, Valentine's, St. pats, etc). I go through it in advance, give the kids e stuff I don't mind and toss the rest.

My parents send a gift for just about all the holidays. One year DD got an American girl doll for Easter. One year she got some bunny sunglasses and an egg dye kit. It's totally random. We just roll with it.

The kids' valentines package arrived today and it had some handmade items from my mom which they loved, some candy, and some more candy. It was sweet, especially that my mom took the time to make them a gift.

DH's family sends occasional gifts. Easter, Halloween, birthdays and Christmas. It's roughly a quarterly occasion for them.

I can't tell if are doing a backwards brag about how much your mother lavishes on you or if you actually are just ungrateful. Instead of telling us, why don't you have a conversation with your mother? Although if my daughter grows up to be this way I would never give her another thing especially a college fund for those kids.

I think they (my parents) have sent cards a few times. My oldest child is 16---and they've sent cards maybe 3 or 4 years? My husband's parents have never sent anything for Valentines Day.

I am an only child and love all the stuff my mom sends my son and daughter. She rarely visits but sends nice presents. Anything I don't like or think is excessive I can toss it out.

My depression era mother would send a card and some money to my kids. Since she died (two years ago), my father has not done anything. My sister will send a card and some cash too. DH's does nothing for any holiday. They used to do something small for Christmas, but that has tailed off and never for birthdays either.

Yes, both my parents and DH's parents do this for every holiday. My kids love it, and I think it's so sweet and thoughtful. You sound mean and ungracious.
