Can I ask why you picked Hollywood Studios over Animal Kingdom?
Not the OP but for her child's age there are only two rides. The rest is just animals, a few okay shows and the walking is severe. We have the free National zoo here for animals. We preferred Hollywood Studios.

Not the OP, but we were there last month and didn't do AK. Our kids aren't big into animals and they enjoyed Hollywood Studios quite a bit. I don't imagine we will do AK until they're older, say 8 or so.

We neglected to prep our kids before our disney cruise, and our nearly 3 year old exclaimed, "Look! There's a big duck!" It was Donald. He had no clue.

I think the most important is watching old Mickey and Donald shorts. They sell cheap DVD's on Amazon.

My 4yo twins have been to DisneyWorld three times already (two 1-day trips and one 3-day visit since the grandparents live nearby). They love it. They have seen none of the movies and it doesn't matter. They have read a couple of Winnie the Pooh books and the have seen Cars (so they wanted to visit the Lightning and Mater photo op at Hollywood Studios) but they still have not seen much else and they still have a great time there.

My boys had never seen Peter Pan so I had them watch before we went for the first time. It quickly turned into one of their favorites. Peter Pan's Flight is my favorite ride, and I thought they would enjoy it more if they had seen the movie.

I don't think someone would be "disappointed" by Toy Story attraction...but they may enjoy it more, if they had seen the movie.
When I think of the rides my boys like at Disney and think that having seen the movie might improve the experience - Toy Story and Nemo come to mind first. (We always enjoy Turtle Talk.) At Hollywood Studio, we like getting a photo with McQueen and Mater (Cars).

What movies should he see to avoid being clueless when there? For example, if you've never seen Toy Store I imagine you'd be disappointed because there's a big Toy Story attraction.
