Only too late for any aspirations of winning a grand slam. Otherwise absolutely not. Do like Nike says and just do it. And have fun.

For the tecord, tennis star Pauline Bets Addie died at the age of 91. I knew her and she played regularly up until she died. She was still playing at age 90. There are leagues for gender and age like the over 50's, over 60's, over 70's. So I hardly think that 45 is too old.

The USTA has programs and leagues that are both age and ability based. You'll be able to find lots of people your age and ability to play with.

This. But from a skills standpoint, no, absolutely not too old. There's always the senior tour, old timer.

I started taking lessons last July (45yo) and had a blast. Can't wait for them to start up again in May. BTW, there are free lessons in DC at Banneker Tennis courts every Thurs evening and Saturday mornings. Class had all ages from 20 - 50. Great fun!!! Give it a try.

Of course you are not too old. I recently took up tennis again at 50 after about a 30 year hiatus and it's fun. In my neighborhood there is a group of women in their 70s/80s who play every week.

Not too old. Take a couple of private lessons to teach proper form. Then rent a court for the ball machine several times. Then take a group class and you're on your way!

Thinking of taking tennis lessons in the spring. Am I too old?

Will also suck in all likelihood (totally unatheletic), but it looks like fun and decent exercise.
