And the rest of the year? They maybe do a tour once every few weeks, send out readmission contracts (unless they are online) and do what? Answer the occasional email (or rather, ignore them).

So they have ALL year to prepare for this intense time and mostly they fxxk it up because largely they're quite a lazy bunch and with that comes a high level of incompetence.

You can't compare ADs to accountants, that's an insult to accountants.

Yes I believe in the benefit of the doubt. And in second chances, and third chances. But there does have to be some level of competence.

I know that some others on DCUM have had different experiences but in ours, yes, the attitude of the admissions department mirrored that of the school in general, with both positive and negative examples.

I do.

We applied for a K-8 school last year and the AD was all over the place. She sent us several seemingly personal emails that had no baring on our application process (we were out of state, a long distance away). She said we could ask any questions just to drop her an email and she'd get back.

I think I asked one question and never had an answer.

She made a lot of really time consuming and annoying mistakes.

And she was a very true reflection of a disorganized school with several inefficient teachers and a Head who really didn't know his arse from his elbow.

That is a good point. But it is frustrating and makes me wonder how responsive a d efficient administration is to any issues outside of the classroom

No, not really. I think that the admissions people aren't necessarily representative of the teachers, and the teachers have the biggest impact on the children.

Do you think the responsiveness of the admissions office is a reflection of the administration or attitude of the school? examples: not responding at all, or repeatedly getting times wrong or other scheduling issues?
