I do have kids. Two of them and one of them was 2 while I was pregnant.

She is a guest at the party. It would be more awkward (for your guests who acknowledge her, if not for you) to say 'hi, thanks for dropping off larlo, enjoy your hour off' than for her to be included.

To be honest, even in a totally family friendly office, it's going to be a bit weird to have a #2 shower with your #1 there. You probably will appreciate the flexibility of having her there the whole time to take #1 as soon as he's showing signs that he's ready to go

Either she's a guest at the party OR she's on duty, not both. She can't be a guest if she's on duty as 'back up' for you. That's not fair.

I like the idea of treating her and booking a manicure (or something similar). I think she will be touched that you went out of your way to do something like that and give her a break. However, since you will be balancing talking with co-workers and watching your son, it may be nice to have her there as back-up.

Is there anyone else that can bring him like a friend or family member? Because then you could find out what your nanny prefers, and if she prefers not to go, someone else could bring him and hang out more comfortably.

My office is hosting a baby shower for me for number 2. I will bring in my 2 year old son for the event as the office is very family friendly and everybody wants to meet him. Question is about the nanny- she will have to bring him to the office and take him home which is fine, but should I have her join in the party? Ask her what she prefers to do? I don't want her to feel awkward or obligated to come (she does not really speak English) but of course don't want to make her feel like she is not invited, which of course she is. Thoughts? Would you think it was weird to have a nanny at an office shower? The shower will be at midday which is why she needs to drop off/pick up my son.
