Yes. He hurt us and he was in the wrong and he cut ties with us so that is the end.

The age difference makes a relationship quite difficult. My only sibling is a sister who is 15 years older than me. We are not really that close. We both effectively grew up as only children.

I'm about 20 years older than my half-sisters. They're nice enough, but I'm more like an aunt to them.
As an aside, it was tough to watch them grow up and have the relationship with my father that I wish I had. But the situation didn't allow for that.

My situation is somewhat similar to yours. Neither of us have ever lived with my father. She is under the impression that he favors me and gives me more money. The reality is that our mothers are from different socio-economic backgrounds, so any difference when we were growing up were due to that. My dad IS NOT the type to try and even things out. He is also stingy as hell. Any difference now is due to our choice of careers.
A family even brought this all to a head - she no longer speaks to me and stopped speaking to him for a period of time, until she needed money.

OP here: Interesting, I never thought of siblings who share the same mothers, but different fathers, as 'half." Of course this makes sense, but I guess growing up together with the same parent kind of takes away the distant feeling of being "half."
