Huh?

I would send a message asking them to leave it on the door (or whatever) between 430 and 5 pm (or whenever) and that I would be coming by to get it then.
That way you don't hav to interact with them and they don't have to be home.

The worst part is going to be how she's going to complain to everyone that you were "such a bitch about a stupid jacket. Sheesh, I was going to return it."

No. Some women (like some men) are horrible people. I have a wide circle of female friends and they would NEVER get drunk, be loud or obnoxious, or refuse to give back something they borrowed. If my friends borowed clothing, they'd return it with a bunch of flowers or a sweet thank you card or something. We're lovely people, despite being women.

This. I thought Lent must have a special jacket. Just go get it. Add the flavor of it being a gift from a loved one if she again tells u she looks great in it.

I am sorry you're going through this, I have been through similar and I was honestly astonished by their reluctance to return the item borrowed. I would have been around the next day returning it if the situation were reversed.

Turn up. Ring the door bell. Get the jacket back.

Just show up. Maybe she threw up on it or otherwise soiled it and needs to get it cleaned. But just keep on it with the awareness you might not get it back.

These are awful people. Tell,them "I will be coming by at X time" Then never see them again.

We had a party Friday night. Half the people were friends we know well and half were new friends we'd like to know better (sort of to determine if we want to maintain/pursue the friendships). One couple got drunk. DH offered to drive them home so they wouldn't drive (Uber had surge pricing and they don't live far). The wife said she was cold and asked to borrow a jacket. I wanted to say no - she was sloppily drunk, not someone I know well) but couldn't think of how to do that without being an ass, so gave her one.

I need it back. DH drove them home, walked them to their door, unlocked it, got them in, and then asked her for my jacket back. She wouldn't give it, her husband was trying to drunkenly pull her up the stairs, and DH let it go in the moment.

Yesterday afternoon I texted her saying we're so glad they came, blah blah blah, and hey she has my jacket - what time is good for us to swing by real quick and pick it up? She texted back "but I look so cute in it!" I texted back "Does 4-6 work for you?" She hasn't responded.

DH and I don't want to be friends with them. We're not friends with people who get so drunk that way, and they're kind of loud and obnoxious even before getting drunk. And now the way she's being about the jacket. If I lent a friend a jacket, they'd all return it within a day or two, and they'd be reaching out to me rather than the other way around.

I want that damn jacket back. How? Do we just show up? She may not keep it.
