Any hall for rent will do. I've been to one in a conf center with a large room. I think a funeral home is too morbid after the fact...

Many funeral homes can accommodate situations such as this. Just ask. Its what we did for my grandfather.

Community center? Sometimes firehouses have halls, or various ethic groups, veterans organizations.

Look at conference rooms. Hotels or community centers? I like the idea of a restaurant though.

My grandfather was a proud atheist. We did a small memorial meal and his most favorite restaurant.

Same here. It was about 10 years ago and I don't think the deceased or his partner had any affiliation there.

Great outdoors would really be the best.

Did the dear departed have a setting where he/she was really happy and well-remembered? e.g., Golf club? Kitchen (Restaurant)? Pub? Family home (if the home's big enough or the crowd's small enough?)

Any suggestions of where to have a memorial service other than a church? The dearly departed was not into organized religion. I'd choose the great outdoors, but it is February. Thanks..,
