What is their middle initial? As a data wonk/IT professional, its stuff like this that makes a real mess of our databases.

how do i abbreviate

this middle name: Del Rocio

My name is: Bridgette Del Rocio

when they ask for middle initial, do i write: DR? D? Dr? or R? does anybody know?

We did it, to follow my husband's naming tradition from his home country. Forms are a little weird. I usually can only put his first initial. But that's not a big deal, IMO.

First name/middle name/my surname as another middle name/father's surname

The only hassle is when a form doesn't give much room for middle name.

Having my surname in there is handy for travel, because I did not change my surname when I married, and I often travelled overseas with them without hubby. (Still, I usually carried a notarized authorized from my husband).

We did this too! My son is only two, but so far no real issues. Planning to do the same with #2 due in March.

My youngest sister has two middle names (she's in her 20's) so I consulted her, and her names are really long and that's been the only issue - they don't fit on most standardized forms. So we chose a super short (4 letter) middle name for my son.

I gave my son two middle names to honor my father and DH's grandfather. He has a unique first name and uncommon last name but his middle names are rather common: think James David. I will teach him to abbreviate his two middle names if he wants or he can pick his middle name to go by instead of his first name if he would like (this covers him from children who are prone to tease because they are uncultured or ignorant). In his passport his middle names will be abbreviated(i.e J.D.). Go with what you like. Eff the rest!

We are thinking of using two middle names to honor two grandparents, but worry about how difficult or confusing that will be for our child long term. Any thoughts?
